Students have told us that a main motivator for pursuing a degree is the hope of becoming more attractive to employers. With that in mind, Wiley focuses on building tailoring activities and assessments around what students will actually do in the real-world and looking for opportunities to bring those employers into the student experience wherever possible.
For Purdue’s Online Master of Science in Engineering Technology, we shot a series of behind-the-scenes demonstration videos at the facilities of some of the school’s corporate partners, including Subaru and Cummins. During course development, our Learner Experience group collaborated with the program to identify one unique employer in Purdue’s market that we would use to highlight course concepts to students via video.
We are always focused on student outcomes and tailoring activities and assessments around what students will actually do in the real-world.
This media approach added an element of cohesion to the program and provided an opportunity for students to connect what they’d learned in their coursework to their application in the real-world as discussed by these industry partners.
